C. Kenneth Fibus

C. Kenneth Fibus passed away today at the age of 88 surrounded by his family.  He was a son, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and nearly a great grandfather. He loved his family in the best way he knew how, but his passion and energy came from creating and growing the business that his father started in 1939. He began working for The Steel City Corporation at the age of 13, sweeping floors. He worked all through school and college.  During his junior year at the University of Cincinnati, he came home to attend YSU at night while helping to rescue a struggling company.  Under Kens leadership, the company grew and blossomed into what today is Dinesol Plastics. 

Ken was an avid tennis player, racquetball player, skier, bridge player, music lover, and creek builder. Ken lived across the street from his granddaughters and never missed a morning visit before school.  There was always a game of “chase,” and he always came with a blow pop sucker, raisins and goldfish crackers in his pockets. 
He leaves his wife, Jean Strasberg Fibus, three daughters, Randi Caster, Betsy (Ken) Rottman, and Amy (Bob) Hendricks. And the loves of his life, his granddaughters, Annie (Dan) Kostovny and Elle Hendricks (Matthew Wolf). 
Ken was very proud of Youngstown and for many years supported its arts, music, culture, and most especially the greater Jewish Community. 

There will be a graveside service for family only.  Shiva will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday August 11th and Saturday August 13th at the home of Amy and Bob Hendricks.
