Dean P Chengelis, 70, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2020. Mr. Chengelis was born November 5, 1949 in Youngstown, son of James and Ann Mastronestis Chengelis. He was a 1968 graduate of Boardman High School, attended The Ohio State University and was a MP in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
Mr. Chengelis was owner operator of Chengelis Aviation and the Youngstown Executive Airport. While living in West Palm Beach, FL he was General Manager of Stewart Pontiac Mazda. In Newport, RI he was executive Vice President of an auto industry consulting firm and he then accepted General Manager position at Saccucci LM Honda in Newport. Upon returning to Youngstown he worked in variety of management positions at local dealerships.
Dean enjoyed playing football, basketball and golf with his many friends over the past 45 years
He leaves a sister, Jeanie Chengelis, his devoted companion of many years, Connie Mattson, three step-children, Melissa (Kevin) Johnson, Rick (Allison) Mattson, Andrew (Allie) Mattson; six grandchildren, Taylor and Ayden Johnson, Ella and Levi Mattson, Nora and Charlotte Mattson and several cousins.
Dean's kind heart and larger than life personality will truly be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private services will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2020 and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
