Youngstown-
Florence Greenblatt “Greenie” Mirkin passed away January 15, 2022 surrounded by her family, shortly before what would have been her 95th birthday.
Flo was born January 19, 1927 to Hy and Bess Greenblatt of Youngstown and married to her best friend Joe (1921-2000) for 53 years. She is also preceded in death by stepfather Nick Joseph, daughter Suzi, son-in-law Sam Kooperman, sister Shirley Kessler, and several beloved sisters- and brothers-in-law.
She leaves behind brother Charles (Joannie) Greenblatt, sons Harvey (Debbie), and Alan (Lori), daughter-in-law Kathy Kooperman, grandchildren Wendy (Lori) Mirkin-McGee, Jon (Joy) Mirkin, Brian (Cory) Kooperman, Ken (Catie) Mirkin, Kari Mirkin, Andrew Mirkin, Nya Aaron Dreyfuss, David Aaron, great-grandchildren Sophia, Mara, Archie, and Amalia, and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
Flo worked for nearly 20 years in the registration department at Youngstown State University, retiring in 1995. When not volunteering with Temple El-Emeth Sisterhood and the Jewish War Veterans Association, playing Mahjong with her friends, or (over)stocking her freezer, she could be found with a telephone in her hand, checking in on her loved ones and sharing the news of the day
Flo’s family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Manor and Levy Gardens for providing her with unmatched care and comfort and Becky Thomas for her friendship and dedication over the years.
They will honor Flo’s life at 11:30am, Tuesday, January 18,2022 in Shriver-Allison-Courtley-Weller-King Funeral Home, with close relations invited to arrive at 11:00 am. COVID-19 restrictions will be enforced.
