YOUNGSTOWN ----- Hilda Albini, 98, of Youngstown, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Heritage Manor.
Hilda was born April 14, 1922 in Youngstown to Max and Anna Berkowitz. She was one of eight children (6 sisters: Sadie Richstone, Mary Berkowitz, Ruth Agrenowitz, Sylvia Solomon, Ella Lackey and Helen Camens and one brother, Morris Berkowitz).
Hilda graduated from South High School in 1941.
She married Dr. Salo Albini, a pulmonologist and research physician. Soon after they married, Hilda and Salo moved to Long Island, New York. She and her husband traveled extensively all over the world, bringing home souvenirs from every country they visited.
They lived in New York for many years before Salo’s death in 1987 at which time she returned to Youngstown to be with her sisters.
Hilda was a member of Children of Israel Temple. Hilda donated to many charitable organizations, including the Butler Art Museum, who honored her for her donations. She was also a member of Pioneer Women. She enjoyed cooking and collecting figurines, exercising and swimming at the JCC, and her most favorite pastime, gardening. Hilda also spent her time at the slot machines at Mountaineer Casino as well as Hollywood Gaming.
Besides her parents and husband, Hilda was preceded in death by all of her siblings, leaving numerous nieces and nephews, including several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Private graveside services will be held Tuesday 19th in the Children of Israel Cemetery
