Jacalyn Rachel Golden, Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP), age 71 passed away peacefully on the Hospice Unit at Avon Hospital in Avon Ohio on Monday, January 29th following a lengthy illness.  

Jacalyn was born on January 5, 1953, to Bessie and Nathan Golden in Youngstown, Ohio. Sister of Hope Golubich (Joe) and Ron Golden (deceased) sister-in-law of Phyllis; aunt to Tyler Golubich, Crystal Field, James Golden, Robert Golden and Lucy Frayte. 

Jackie attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Youngstown Ohio, graduating in 1971. Upon graduation, Jackie attended the Akron City Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1974.  She then attended the Allegheny General Hospital Emergency Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program in Pittsburgh Pa, graduating in 1980.   She later went on to get her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Cleveland State University in 1988 and her Master's of Science in Nursing from Case Western Reserve as an Adult Nurse Practitioner in 1996. 

Jackie began her nursing career as an emergency room nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center in Youngstown Ohio. She then became a primary care nurse practitioner at Saint Joseph Riverside Hospital in Warren, Ohio, moving on to work as an adult nurse practitioner at Metro General Hospital and Kaiser Permanente in Cleveland Ohio. She worked at Cleveland Clinic from 1988 until 2012 in the Departments of Internal Medicine, Hematology Oncology and Spine Medicine. 

She received numerous honors and recognitions during her career from being named the Nurse Practitioner of the Year by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners twice in 1993 & 2000, to the Barabra Donahue Distinguished Leadership Award from Kent State University in 2009 and Induction into The Cleveland Clinic Nursing Hall of Fame in 2005 to name a few. 

She was a leader in the Advance Practice Nursing (APN) world. She collaborated with the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nursing (OAAPN) and other APN colleagues to get over 40 pieces of APN legislation and regulatory changes passed. She was a well-known and respected colleague of legislators, lobbyists, members of various Boards including Nursing, Medicine, and Pharmacy. 

Funeral service will be held at 10:30am, Thursday February 1st in Shriver-Allison-Courtley-Weller-King Funeral Home with interment to follow at Ohev Tzedek Cemetery.
