Jerry Reich Obituary

Jerry Reich, 91, formerly of  Boardman, Ohio and more recently residing in Westerville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2021

Jerry was born November 28, 1929 in the Bronx, New York a son of Samuel and Jennie Reich , moving to Youngstown, Ohio as a child. 

He was a graduate of South High School, the Ohio State University, and Ohio State University College of Law.  Upon graduation, Jerry worked for the US Department of Agriculture in Chicago, IL, but returned to Youngstown to join his father as owner and operator of Century Restaurant Equipment Co. where he met his future wife, Patricia Ann Smith, whom he married in April of 1967. 

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers David and Joseph, sister Esther Coombs, and beloved wife Patricia. 

 He leaves behind his daughters, Naomi Madey (Kent), Debbie Reich, and Sara Bruce (Michael), and two grandchildren, Kelly and Samuel.

Jerry served as a Captain in the US Air Force in the Korean conflict as a member of the 581st ARC, where he served in Korea and the Philippine Islands.  He had a livelong love of travel and was an active member and former trustee of Ohev Tzedek Temple, where he and Pat volunteered for bingo games, played poker with friends, and loved the traditional prayers and songs, particularly the Avinu Malkeinu.  Jerry was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and classical and blue grass music.

Jerry said his family kept him young and was a life-long learner.  He loved to read and listen to audio books. 

 The family requests that tributes be made as donations to the Westerville Public Library, which provided Jerry many hours of enjoyment, at https://www.westervillelibrary.org/donate-library.

Graveside services will be held at  1:30pm, Friday, February 12th at Ohev Tzedek Cemetery, 4260 Tippecanoe Rd., Youngstown, OH 44511
