Katherine "Katie" Ricciuti Obituary

Katherine (Katie) B. Ricciuti, 81 of Liberty Twp. passed away peacefully with her family by her side Saturday morning October 1, 2022. Katie was born February 20, 1941, the daughter of Dr. James Bruce Birch and Katherine Summers Birch in Youngstown Ohio and lived her life in Liberty Township.

She was a 1959 graduate of The Rayen High School, a member of the National Honor Society, and attended Lake Erie College and Youngstown State University. Katie worked at WKBN Radio and after her marriage to Paul J. Ricciuti in 1963, handled the accounts of her father, a pediatrician, Dr. Birch.

An active member of the community, Katie was a 60-year member of the Youngstown Junior League, a charter member of the St. Elizabeth Junior Guild, the Youngstown Symphony Guild where she served as treasurer of many Symphony Balls, the New Century Club, the Ladies of the Club Book Club, and the Youngstown Garden Club.

Formed from her passions for travelling and gardening, Katie’s formal English Gardens, situated around her home, were a reminder of her travel with her husband to gardens in Europe. She enjoyed every opportunity to share these gardens while entertaining visitors.

A firm believer in traditions for family and friends, Katie was the matriarch for 50 years of family vacations in Cape May, New Jersey, 35 years of hosting Christmas Eve celebrations, 35 years of trips to New England and to Florida. She was an avid collector of porcelain roosters, cows, and cats.

Besides her parents, Katie is preceded in death by her brother James Anthony Birch.

She is survived by her husband Paul J. Ricciuti, son J. Bruce Ricciuti (Karen Agredo), and daughters Katherine R. Kline (Edward) and Kara R. Manchester (Byron) and eight grandchildren: E. Margaret Ricciuti, James Birch Ricciuti, Elissa Manchester Mueller, Katherine E. Kline, Lily G. Manchester, Paul Harrison Kline, Sofia R. Agredo and Rafael A. Agredo.

A memorial service in honor of Katie’s life will be held on Friday, October 14th at 11:00 am at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Avenue, with Reverend Gayle Catinella as officiant. Family and friends may call at the church prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 am. A private burial will be held at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
