Kathleen Beigel Obituary

Kathleen “Kay” Callen Beigel, 83, died peacefully Monday, February 27, 2023. She was with her husband, Samuel, the love of her life, when she passed away at The  Inn at Glenellen, in North Lima, Ohio. They had recently moved to The Inn at Glenellen after living 50+ years on the westside of Youngstown.

Kathleen was born on January 13, 1940 in Lebanon, PA. to Robert and Helen Lazorcik Callen. She graduated as a medical technologist after attending Franklin School in Philadelphia. Kay and Sam had just celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary together on February 25th.
Kay passed along her talents as a good baker and cook to her three daughters. She learned how to draw and paint from her father and how to crochet and knit from her mother. These skills allowed her the opportunity as a young mother to lead Girl Scouts, volunteer at her daughters’ schools and make every holiday special. Later in life she embraced technology and was always learning new things on her iPad. She enjoyed reading and listening to music, especially Bruce Springsteen. She was a caregiver to many including her parents, mother-in-law, Fanny Jacobson and several friends.
She loved her daughters and son-in-laws, Sharon (Mike) Kurjan of Poland, Sheila (James) Foxworthy of Statesville, NC and Suzette (Bruce – deceased) Moyer of Philadelphia. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, Michael (Alyssa) Kurjan, Monica Kurjan, Dakota (Tessa) Moyer and Callen Moyer, reading with them, playing board games, crafting, baking and cooking.
Also, left to treasure her memory is her brother, Robert (Donna) Callen, brother-in-law, Jerry (Estelle) Beigel, close nephew, TR (Joanne) Morgan along with other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her half-sister, Jackie (Tom) Morgan and grandchildren, Brian, Marc and Jessica Kurjan.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, March 1, 2023, in Anshe Emeth Cemetery Chapel, 588 Granada Avenue in Youngstown. Family and friends may call 45 minutes prior to the service in the chapel.
