Dr. Larry Glass, 93, passed away peacefully Friday, August 16, 2024, at Levy Gardens Assisted Living.
Larry was born November 13,1930, the son of the late Lillian and Louis Glass. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1948. Larry was a proud Army veteran of the Korean War. Upon his return from the war, he married the love of his life, Dona Spector. They had a daughter, Lori, who was born in 1960. Larry attended Dental School at The Ohio State University and was in private practice in Youngstown for almost 5 decades. While at Ohio State, Larry discovered his passion for football officiating and took great pride in being asked to officiate some big games, namely the 1988 Hall of Fame and 1990 Peach Bowls. Larry was active with The Curbstone Coaches for many years and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1993. Throughout his life, Larry committed himself to maintaining his physical fitness including jogging and golfing into his late 80s. He was a true gentleman in every sense, always had a kind or encouraging word for anyone he met. To know Larry was to love him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dona and daughter, Lori. Larry will be remembered fondly by his nephews David and Jeff Mirkin and their families.
Services will be held at 11:30 on Sunday August 18th in the Itts Memorial Chapel, Anshe Emeth Cemetery on Granada Ave in Youngstown.
The family would like to thank Levy Gardens Assisted Living, Southern Care Hospice and Comfort Keepers for their compassionate care.
