Lawrence (Larry) Hirschl, 80, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 7, 2021.

Larry was born in Cleveland, Ohio on Feb. 10, 1941, son of Louis and Mary (Margolis) Hirschl. He attended Cleveland Heights High School, he then went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree at The Ohio State University and his Master’s Degree at Youngstown State University. Larry also served in the US Army and was a Captain in the Vietnam War.

Larry was a chemist by training and worked at Harshaw Chemical in Cleveland, Ohio before he turned to business ownership including Marvondale Lanes, The Spaghetti Shop, and Midas Muffler. Larry also taught chemistry in the Youngstown City Schools and at YSU. He enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, golf, and traveling the United States and abroad. His love of water showed when he was able to enjoy his boat and sit by the pool. Larry loved to bowl and did so in a number of leagues for many years. He was a member of the local coin collecting club and his love of gardening showed in his impressive house plants and vegetable gardens.

Larry is survived by the love of his life, Marsha Farbman, whom he married on September 20, 1970 in Youngstown, Ohio. They happily celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last September. He is also survived by his three children, Michelle Hirschl (Dean Rumbaugh), Rhonda Hirschl (James Mike), and Robert Hirschl (Erica), grandson Isaac Hirschl, step-grandchildren Jared (Sena) and Joshua (Grace) Mike, and great grandchildren Benjamin and Phoebe Mike. He also leaves to cherish his memory sisters Illona (Thomas) Russell and Nancy (Henry) Brown. His mother-in-law, Ruth Farbman, whom he loved very much and asked about daily as well as his brother-in-law Barry (Trudy) Farbman will also cherish his memory. Larry also left behind many nieces and nephews. In addition, he will be missed by Vincent and Angela Procopio and their children (Vincent (Emily) and Daniel (Danielle)) Procopio who started as friends and became a part of our family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Gayle (Marty) Kabak, and a nephew, Steven Farbman.
