Lorine Roslyn Schwaber “Grandma Lori”, 88, passed away on November 2, 2024, at Levy Gardens Assisted Living in Youngstown, Ohio. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 26, 1936, the daughter of Frank and Elsie (Kornstein) Swartz.
Lori attended Howard Seminary High School in West Bridgewater, MA, graduating at age 16. Then went onto Bryant College Business School in Providence, majoring in Math, while also taking Design classes at Rhode Island School of Design.
She was a talented and sought after Interior Designer in Youngstown, Ohio and Boca Raton, Florida. She and her husband Sanford Sheridan Schwaber (Sandy) had a vibrant life, loved to golf and dance, travel, and entertain their many dear friends. They lived for family, and adored all the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, leaving a wonderful legacy of the importance of family, friends, community, and the value of a loving home.
Lori was fabulous. She traveled all over the world to see her family’s births, graduations, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, plays, weddings and many other milestones, always cheering us on, and filled with pride.
Mom suffered heartbreaking losses but had incredible strength. She managed to survive the loss of her first-born baby, David Alan Schwaber, and the sudden loss of our dad when she was only 55.
Mom not only loved her own friends dearly, she loved our friends, too, and they loved her. And we all learned so much from her. Mom exuded warmth, and wherever she went people were drawn to her.
Lori is survived by her three children Cyndi Katz (Nick), Jody Kuzmik (John), and Jeff Schwaber (Chelsi); eight grandchildren Ben, Rachel (Chase), Dylan (Rebecca), Andrew (Lyndsey), Jack, Mason, Sailor & Crew; four great grandchildren Emma Lily, Ezra, Samuel & Jacob; and her nieces Sherri Noon (David), Rhonda Weisberg (Lee), and their children and grandchildren.
Lori was laid to rest at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Warwick, Rhode Island on November 7, 2024, alongside her devoted husband Sandy, her sister Avis Young and brother-in-law Manny Young, and her parents and grandparents.
