Mae Sands Obituary


Private graveside service were held for Mae Sands, 98, who passed away June 11, 2020 peacefully in the comfort of her home with her daughter Cathy by her side.

Mrs. Sands was born February 3, 1922 in Wilmington, Delaware a daughter of Katheryn and Morris Forman.

She was a graduate of P.S. Dupont High School and Maryland College.

Mae married her husband Morty in 1946 and they were happily married for 54 years.

She was a member of Ohev Tzedek Synagogue and was a bridal consultant for 20 years.
Mae was devoted to her family and friends and loved having family holiday dinners opening her table to extended family across the country. She was an avid bridge and Mah Jongg player, she was winning duplicate bridge into her 90's.

She is survived by a daughter Cathy , a son Steve (Jean) , a sister Dorris Miller and four grandchildren Daniel, Jeffrey, Melanie and Julie.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister Beatrice Brace.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice of the Valley for their support in her final days.
Upon Maes' request special gratitude to Charlotte her full time caregiver for giving several years of support and companionship. Most of all appreciated was Charlotte's honesty and integrity traits Mae valued and lived by in her lifetime. Cathy was Mae's sole caregiver the last 8 months of her life.
