Marcia S Wolk

Services will be held on Thursday, November 4, at 1:00 p.m. in the Shriver-Allison-Courtley-Weller-King Funeral Home in Youngstown for Marcia S. Wolk, 78, who passed away on Sunday, October 31.

Marcia was born on May 27, 1943. She was born in Buffalo, New York graduating from Riverside High School in 1961. She attended college at the University at Buffalo where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1965. Marcia then went on to earn her Masters Degree in Education in 1969. She went on to be a full time English teacher at Riverside High School. She also worked as a part-time bookkeeper at her father’s accounting firm. She resided in Buffalo until she met and married her late husband, Mark Wolk, in 1976.

Marcia then moved to Boardman, Ohio. She continued to work as a high school English teacher until her daughter joined the family in 1984. A few years later she helped open the family business, Top Notch Car Care, where she was the office manager and bookkeeper until retirement in 2008.

Marcia’s early hobbies included tennis, bowling, ice skating, swimming and sewing. She especially enjoyed antiquing with her husband, cooking and baking and spending time with her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. She assisted with tutoring children from time to time. She quickly learned from her father and uncle the ins and outs of the stock market and you could usually find her studying the stock market channel on TV or her computer.

She is survived by her daughter, Ilana (James) Rafferty of Cleveland; and two grandchildren, Fiona and Connor Rafferty.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Wolk, her father, Irving Berzon and mother Edna Berzon.

Friends and family may call 30 minutes prior to service in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
