Michael Holland Leebaw

Michael Holland Leebaw, 74, passed away August 3, 2021, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House. Michael was born January 13, 1947, the son of Stanley and Helen “Dutchy” Holland Leebaw.

A life-long resident of Youngstown and a 1965 graduate of Boardman High School, Michael earned an Associate Degree in accounting from Penn-Ohio Junior College in 1969 and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in sociology from Youngstown State University in 1975. He was employed as a store manager for National Record Mart for 12 years and as an automotive claims representative for Eliser and Associates for 7 years. He joined Best Buy as a department manager in 1992 and retired in 2007. Michael adored his sweet cat, Purrdy, was a devoted Cleveland Indians fan, and enjoyed his extensive vinyl music collection and traveling to Michigan to visit family.

Michael is survived by his son, Alexander Paul Leebaw of Parrish, Florida, his sister, Elissa George of East Lansing, Michigan, and his nephew, Kevin (Sarah) of Haslett, Michigan. Michael was preceded in death by his father Stanley in 1984, his mother Helen on July 10, 2021, and his sister Ilona in 1953. 

The family would like to thank the compassionate ICU staff at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and the caring staff at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House.

A burial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, September 20, at the Rodef Sholom Chapel of Tod Homestead Cemetery, 2200 Belmont Ave, Youngstown. The service will also memorialize his mother, Helen Holland Leebaw.
