On March 12, 2020, the Mahoning Valley, Ohev Tzedek Temple and the greater Jewish Community lost one of its most treasured members with the untimely passing of Neil Yutkin, 68.
Neil was born Nov. 8, 1951, raised in Youngstown and graduated from Ohio University. His professional career spanned 30 years with the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services, Unemployment Services. His devotion to the working men and women of Ohio was second only to his deep commitment to the Jewish community. Neil served the Jewish Federation of Youngstown on levels almost too numerous to mention, but his greatest service was to Ohev Tzedek where he was a fixture at all of its services and saw to it that every need was met and problem solved. In addition to being President and Program Director of Ohev Tzedek, Neil served on many local Boards and Commissions proudly representing his Temple.
His accomplishments and achievements are numerous, but it’s his quality of character that stands out the most. Neil was a mensch in the true sense of the word. It is fitting that Neil was so dedicated to a synagogue named “Love of Righteousness”. He was a role model of Righteousness. He inspired us all.
Neil was the son of Morris (Moe) a long time entrepreneur, and Edith Yutkin, a teacher in Liberty. He is survived by uncle Ronnie Cohen, many cousins and extended family members.
We will celebrate Neil’s life at a later date in Ohev Tzedek Temple located on 5245 Glenwood Ave. 44512. There will be a graveside service at 2:00pm, Sunday March 15, 2020 in The Ohev Tzedek Cemetery, 4260 Tippecanoe, Youngstown, Ohio 44511.
Donations in Neil’s memory can be made to Ohev Tzedek.
