Services were held for Roberta Rome, 82, who died peacefully, Friday, Jan. 5, 2023, at Continuing Health Care of Niles, surrounded by her family after a long illness.
Roberta was born on January 9, 1941, to Berko and Tillie (Facter) Friedberg in Youngstown, Ohio. On December 23, 1962, she married the love of her life Howard Rome in Cleveland, Ohio.
She graduated from Rayen High School and attended Youngstown University with a bachelor’s degree.
Roberta was a member of the Temple El Emeth in Liberty where she served two terms as co-president of the Temple El Emeth sisterhood and worked at the temple office for several years. She also worked briefly in real estate.
Besides being a voracious reader, Roberta loved to bake. Her love language was honey cakes, hamantaschen and chocolate chips cookies. These were often bestowed upon her beloved grandchildren.
She had a fierce and unrestrained love for her grandchildren and was unconditionally supportive and interested in all of their lives without ever being judgmental or critical. There was nothing more important to her than her family. She was always full of pride for her sons, their wives, and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Howard Rome, Liberty, OH; her children, Joel Rome (Sandra) Los Angeles, CA; Mark Rome (Jackie) Thousand Oaks, CA; grandchildren Julia Rome, Los Angeles, CA; Allison Rome, Madison, WI; and Ethan Rome, Thousand Oaks, CA
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sandi Levenson, and brother-in-law Mike Levenson.
